According to studies, 65% of people with credit or debit cards have experienced credit card fraud at least once. In 2022, card-not-present fraud, which involves online, over-the-phone, and mail-order transactions, accounted for an estimated $5.3 billion in U.S. losses. As crooks use more and more sophisticated ways to overcome fraud-fighting measures, the statistics and numbers are increasing year over year. Like many Americans, I have fallen victim to this type of fraud.
Usually, after experiencing credit/debit card fraud, I have encountered issues with reoccurring billing trying to process payment with a canceled card. Although my bank and other institutions have made recent efforts to alert me to affected payment plans, I still experienced a few accounts slipping through the cracks. Only after learning that payments could not be processed or lapsed, did I discover these overlooked accounts. I thought to myself, "If only there was an app to track all of my accounts and view which card was tied to each account." Being a perpetual problem solver, I started to imagine an app that would address this issue. This application would essentially be a "Subscriptions Payment Tracker."
My first step when I began to develop the Subscription Payment Tracker app was to define the requirements. I organized my thoughts, made notes, and identified apps/companies that offered financial-based services.
I created user flows to establish the different paths I would take to execute desired actions. Establishing the user flows enabled me to organize the app structure and what screens needed to be included.
Next, I developed wireframes for each screen type. Every screen defined the necessary components required to navigate and communicate specific data.
Based on the wireframes' architecture, the screens were designed to have a clean, modern, and friendly feel to them. I experimented with various fonts, colors, and styles to create the voice and identity of the app.
Every screen, their content and navigational elements were carefully explored and designed to provide the best possible experience to users.
When working with a blank slate, I am passionate about pushing myself to try and come up with as many different types of design possibilities.
